I think having a proper plugin would be lovely, but it’s not something the current core team has the time or (for most of us) the skillset to develop; a template auto-formatter, in particular, would have to be authored somewhat from scratch.
This is the sort of thing, though, that could be developed outside of the Django core code and then officially recommended or that sort of thing. I do think it’s worth it, I just don’t think it’s something we can just… do.
