celery-manager: a dashboard for Celery that can pause a single scheduled run

Hi everyone,

I’ve been building celery-manager, a dashboard and REST API for Celery that works with Django projects.

It records every task run from Celery’s events, so you don’t need to change your tasks. For each run you can see its status, arguments, worker, timings and full traceback, and you can cancel, terminate or retry it (with edited arguments if needed).

The feature I’m most excited about: you can skip one upcoming run of a periodic task, or pause a schedule until a set time, without editing your beat schedule or redeploying.

Live progress from inside a task looks like this:

import celery_manager

from celery_manager import report_progress

@app.task

@celery_manager.track()

def import_customers(rows):

for i, row in enumerate(rows):

        handle(row)

        report_progress(i + 1, len(rows))

It also includes:

  • Captured task logs next to each run

  • Chains, groups and chords shown as a tree

  • Failures grouped by cause, with “retry all”

  • Worker controls, rate limits and queue purge

  • An audit log of every action

With Django, you run the dashboard as its own process next to your app. It’s alpha (`0.1.0a4`), and there’s no role system yet, so any signed-in user can do everything. Please only use it on internal tools for now.

Feedback is very welcome, especially from people running Celery in production. Thanks!
