GSoC 2026 contributor introduction – First year student (Python)

Hello everyone,

I am a first year undergraduate student and I am interested in contributing to Django as part of Google Summer of Code 2026.

I know Python and I am comfortable with basic OOP concepts such as classes and inheritance.
I am new to Django and I would like to start learning it through contributing.

I would really appreciate guidance on:

  • how to start contributing,
  • and which beginner-friendly issues or documentation tasks I should begin with.
