Hi everyone,
I recently picked up an old side project I started in 2025 called NexUI, which is now SilkUI.
The goal is to bring modern UI components to Django, inspired by the philosophy of shadcn/ui while keeping things server-side first.
SilkUI currently includes:
23 components (Button, Card, Modal, Table, Toast, etc.)
A CLI: silkui add that copies the component code directly into your project
Tailwind CSS + Alpine.js, with no heavy JS dependencies
Native HTMX support
Documentation built with SilkUI itself
If you work with Django, I’d really appreciate your feedback.

Bringing the copy-paste component philosophy to Django is such a massive quality-of-life win, especially with native HTMX and Alpine support built right in. Not having to deal with heavy frontend build tools or bloated packages just to get nice-looking UI components makes shipping side projects so much faster. The CLI approach looks super clean—definitely going to check this out!

Thanks for the kind words! Let me know what you think once you’ve tried it and feedback is always welcome.
Will do! Planning to spin up a little CRUD project this weekend to test out the modals and tables alongside HTMX. I’ll definitely drop some feedback or open an issue if I hit anything. Keep up the awesome work on it!
