The early elections are now started! See our announcement, Announcing the 6.x Steering Council elections :rocket:, with a full timeline of all important dates.

Thank you to everyone who has helped behind the scenes in getting those elections started, and all the people who have been working behind the scenes to help our community navigate its governance challenges, which the DSF Board expressed in Django’s technical governance challenges, and opportunities.

:wave: just a brief update to say elections are still under way, all as planned, with about 24 hours left until the end of the Django 6.x Steering Council Candidate Registration.

So far, we’ve received 10 registrations from eligible candidates :heart: we’re elated to see so many people rise to the challenge. There’s room for more if anyone has a last-minute change of heart and wants to go for it. Don’t worry too much about the deadline, if you want an extension just let me/us know in DMs or email.

For everyone else – voting is scheduled to start on December 10th. We’ll only have the voting open for one week, during which I’d like us to get more than 50% voter turnout, so we’ll need all the help we can get to make that work.
