Thanks to Read the Docs and EthicalAds, the django debug toolbar has been collecting ad revenue and routing it directly to the DSF for about a year now. This is something all packages could do with an email. If you’re interested, let me know!

I’m curious if the project that participates is this will have visibility and metric about of how much fund it help raise?

Right now this is pretty basic, so no I don’t think they would have that visibility. The account that we have set up for Django Commons and the toolbar can view the metrics, but we wouldn’t be able to easily share that with other package maintainers.
Here’s an image from one of the reports.
If this gains traction, it’s possible that Read the Docs and EthicalAds could build out some features to make that work, but that’s pure speculation.

Ohh I see, the packages dont have that visibility and transparency, but I guess Django/DSF has it.
I think it would be useful to provide a regular report so projects can feel proud for having contributed to the fundraising. But yeah I don’t know the mechanics.
