GSoC 2026 Introduction: Abhishek Bijjargi, Interested in Playwright Testing Project

Hi everyone! I’m Abhishek Bijjargi, a first year B.Tech Computer Science student at COEPTech University, Pune, India. I’m excited to apply for GSoC 2026 with the Django Software Foundation.

Background: I work primarily with Python and Django and have recently completed the official Django 6.0 tutorial in full — covering models, views, templates, URL routing, admin customization, static files and automated testing. My completed tutorial repo is here: https://github.com/Abhi090907/django-polls-tutorial

Beyond the tutorial, I’ve built CyberVision — a full stack cybersecurity scanning platform built with Django, OpenCV, Celery, Docker, Redis and AI integrations combining automated vulnerability scanning, computer vision analysis and AI powered security recommendations: https://github.com/Abhi090907/CyberVision

I also hold Oracle Cloud Infrastructure certifications in Multicloud Architecture and Generative AI, along with cybersecurity certifications from StationX covering Kali Linux, Nmap and ethical hacking.

Project interest: I’m interested in the “Switch to Playwright tests for integration testing” project. Having completed the Django tutorial I have a solid understanding of Django’s test structure and I’m excited about modernizing the integration testing approach. I’ve worked with automated testing in my own projects and understand the value of reliable, fast and maintainable test suites.

Questions for mentors:

  1. For a first year contributor, what would be the best starting point for understanding Django’s current Selenium-based test suite before proposing the Playwright migration?

  2. Are there specific areas of the test suite that would be highest priority to migrate first?

  3. Would it be appropriate to start with a small proof-of-concept migration of a few tests as part of the proposal?

Looking forward to learning from this community and contributing meaningfully!
