Hi everyone,
My name is Abhishek, and I am a 2nd year Computer Science B.Tech student at IIT Indore. I am writing to formally introduce myself as a prospective student for Google Summer of Code 2026 with the Django Software Foundation.
I have strong experience building full stack web applications using Django and React. Recently, I’ve worked on team projects including a secure medical file management system and full stack CSESA website for managing team, projects and other activities in the society. Because of this background, I am highly interested in the web-focused and database management projects on the 2026 Ideas List.
To familiarize myself with the framework’s internal standards, I spent this weekend diving into the issue tracker and submitted my first two patches:
-
PR #20855 (Ticket #16306): Clarified built-in field validation arguments in the documentation.
-
PR #20871 (Ticket #10449): Added a regression test to the widget test suite to prove that
mark_safecorrectly prevents double-escaping of HTML entities in form Select choices.
I am eager to dive deeper into the codebase. I would appreciate any feedback on my initial PRs, and I look forward to discussing the project ideas with the mentors soon!
Thanks, Abhishek
