Social media working group proposal - request for feedback

I’m curious what all you consider “social media” is for the purpose of this proposal.

Many facilities would clearly be included as X, Instagram, TicTok, Discord, and Facebook.

But there are some that don’t seem quite so clear-cut to me.

For example, does this include:

  • Mastodon?
  • The email mailing lists?
  • IRC? (Is that even still a thing being used?)
  • This forum?

In part, I’m wondering if it’s worth enumerating what is covered and what isn’t.

Hmmm good point.

I added a commit with a suggestion of the groups goals and that they would take a decision to the board to create or retire a social media platform: Initial proposal for social media working group. by sarahboyce · Pull Request #6 · django/dsf-working-groups (github.com)

As the group should opt to manage platforms that best acheive their goals with the time they have, this list is likely to be dynamic. Social media platforms are also dynamic/changing :thinking:

It might be nice for the decided list to be added to the working group definition.
