Who is a Django Contributor?

Can i call myself a Django Contributors if i have a website that teaches Django for free & am maintaining a Django Package ? I also have opened up github issues which get fixed. However, I haven’t opened a pull request that got accepted in django’s github repo. Please can anyone tell me if i can call myself a “Django Contributor”.

I don’t think anyone you’re going to get a clear yes or no. That’s not how the community is arranged. There’s no person or group who decide these things.

Although, you should consider putting your name forward for DSF’s individuals membership. Sounds like you’re contributing to the community and ecosystem at the required level.

As a community member, I think you should be fine saying that you’re a Django contributor. It’s a big community and there are several ways to contribute.

Indeed, “contributor” isn’t an official title with specific requirements. But yeah, if you feel like you’re contributing and you’re proud of that, go for it and say “Django Contributor” on whatever profile you like

DSF member is an official title, so yes, as Tim says, apply for it!

I’m so happy to see this thread! If you ask me, if you’ve spent the time to make any code you wrote available for others to reuse as an open source package – that’s definitely a great contribution to Django.

Playing devils advocate here: Couldn’t that be counted as not defending a trademark?

Given the license of the Django trademark as described at Django Trademark License Agreement | Django with clarifications at FAQ: Django's Trademark Licensing Agreement | Django, what specific clauses do you think such usage would violate?

You may use the Django name and logo on a list of services, tools, or supported platforms, or as an identifier that a product or service is Django-related, provided that the usage of the logo does not imply that the organization is official or otherwise endorsed by the DSF, or by the Django Core team as representatives of the Django project

“Django contributor” could be interpreted in that way. “Contributor” being rather vague.

can we connect on linkedin ? I would like to discuss more django with you over there as i cant for the love of god find how to DM on here
