Second Steering Council resignation

Hello everyone, @steering_council in particular.

After reading @apollo13 comment about the effect of two resignation of the council I decided that I would resign if the vote about an early election was not completed by the end of the week.

Seeing @adamchainz resignation just now I figured that there was no point in waiting any longer and I’d like to announce my resignation as well which should trigger an immediate election.

Given we seem to have a healthy pool of candidates for the 6.x cycle I’ll also not present myself for the next elections and continue to focus on the part of the project revolving around the future of the ORM as I think that there is still a void to be filled in this space and a need for guidance.

Thanks so much for your service, Simon! It’s going to sound repetitive to what I said to Adam but it’s no less true just because I’m writing it second — I really appriciate all the work you’ve done, and I know I speak for a huge swath of the community when I say that. @charettes It’s thanks to your input and help that I may be able to close a 9 year old ticket very soon.
