Steering Council resignation

Hello, dear community and @steering_council.

I resign from the Steering Council effective immediately, per this sentence from DEP 10:

A member of the Technical Board MAY resign from the Technical Board by notifying the other members of the Technical Board of their intent to resign.

(“Technical Board” was renamed to “Steering Council” in DEP 12.)

I believe we’re ready for an election for a new council, but the recent vote failed. I don’t have the time or energy to keep up with further discussions.

As far as I understand, my resignation does not yet trigger an election, per these sentences from DEP 10:

Elections of the Technical Board are triggered by any of the following events:

Immediately and automatically when fewer than three of the members elected in the most recent election of the Technical Board remain among the current roster of members of the Technical Board.

Since three members remain, we’d need one more resignation to do so.

I don’t intend to stand again. I have enjoyed serving on the Techincal Board/Steering Council for a while, but I think it’s time we got a new pool of candidates and some fresh energy for the role. I’ll still be around in the community and happy to help any prospective or appointed SC members.

Thank you all,

Adam

Thank you for your service Adam!

You certainly put a lot in to the community which benefits so many of us!

Thanks Adam - really appreciate your help on the SC over the years, and in stepping in to do the right thing here. I’m also going to step down at the election unless we somehow don’t have enough people, which fortunately seems unlikely thanks to the good work of getting people interested in the role.

:smiling_face_with_tear: it’s always been a pleasure working with you, I hope we’ll get other opportunities to do that in the future. And hope to catch up at Django London some time soon!
