If nginx is a requirement I’m not sure there is a free one - otherwise I think most of them aren’t free now. pythonanywhere.com still has a free tier though.
I know you asked for free, but there are plenty of very cheap ones. A basic Digital ocean droplet will cost you $4/month, which is what I started on. I still host several projects on a single $6/month droplet, which is pretty good value, and since it’s a server, you can do what you like there.
Free postgres is more of an issue. Afaik there isn’t a free one any more. I was using ElephantSQL free tier for staging envs, which was pretty good, but they’re removing that.
“Free” is incredibly difficult. Once you hit the ~$5/mo tier, there are so many more options. Fly.io can be incredibly cheap, and might come under the $5/mo I think, depending on your usage.
When providers offer “Free”, it gets taken advantage of, they lose money, and it’s no longer financially viable. Heroku used to be the go-to, but it wasn’t viable for them anymore so they stopped.
