Clarification on Submitting Multiple Project Proposals for Django GSoC 2025

Hi Django Community,

I have multiple project ideas for which I’m passionate about contributing to Django. While GSoC allows up to three proposals per applicant, I want to ensure I take the most effective approach for Django’s selection process:

Key Questions:

  • Is submitting multiple proposals recommended, or should I focus on perfecting one?
  • What factors should I consider when prioritizing or refining my proposals?
  • How do mentors recommend balancing proposal quantity with quality?
  • What makes a GSoC proposal stand out for Django?
  • Are there specific Django areas where contributions are most needed this year?

My Current Approach:

  • I am developing three distinct project proposals
  • Each proposal is well-researched and addresses different aspects of Django
  • I’m committed to contributing seriously to any of these projects
  • My goal is to maximize my chances of being selected for GSoC

My Current Proposals:

  1. Integrating django-template-partials into Django Core
  2. Django Admin: Add Command Palette
  3. Automate processes within Django contribution workflow

I would appreciate guidance from experienced contributors or GSoC mentors about the most effective approach to proposal submission.

Thank you in advance for your insights!

very impressive,
But I think it will refer to out of scope, aspirant can propose ideas many times (iterate), but at the end will work on only one. Every project idea has a definite time duration, level, and each idea requires lots of regression testing and unit testing.

If you can do it all under the GSoC duration, it will be impressive but not justified.

As a GSoC contributor myself, I would not recommend bro
bye genius!

Hello again @AhmedNassar7
You’re lucky, your all three proposal ideas are still on page. The idea on which I am working Configurable Content Type Parsing is get removed from Django page at last moment.

I spent more than two weeks on that Idea, but it’s over
See my research on that idea see doc here

Can you suggest an idea or direction?
:crossed_fingers:

Best of luck! Anyway, you’ve already gained valuable experience, and there’s still time to do your research and find the best project idea for you.

I was also considering a different project at first but had to adjust my priorities based on changes. We should always be ready to adapt and make the most of any situation.

Your research looks great—wishing you all the best!

Hi, @AhmedNassar7
I see you also have an understanding on my proposal idea: “Automate processes within Django contribution workflow”

I am working on it and gathering inputs. Could you provide me your input based on your understanding since you have the ability to work on this idea.

So that I can craft the phases.
In exchange, I will help you with your proposal
